You can rely on your UTV to get you through the roughest terrain and most off-beat trails. It’s easy to count on your side-by-side for both work and leisure activities. In return, you should take care of your machine to ensure it can keep up with all your demands and not break down in the middle of nowhere. We have compiled some UTV maintenance steps that'll help you keep your UTV in top shape, so read on to learn more!

Driveline Service

Your UTV has a driveline through which it distributes engine power to the wheels. This is essentially a chain or belt and like any moving part, if you don’t maintain it, it’ll stick. If you want to keep it moving smoothly, apply a chain lubricant periodically and check the tension. If it’s too tight or too loose, you’ll want to bring it to our service department for adjustment.

Change the Oil

Your UTV needs oil to keep all the engine components from damaging each other and make them work smoothly. You’ll want to change the oil regularly like you do for your car or bike. If you spot any metal flakes in your oil, it could mean the parts are grinding together. If the oil goes black and sludgy, you’ve waited too long and should change it immediately and remember to change it more frequently.

Change the Filters

To block any harmful particles from entering the engine, your UTV is fitted with filters. The fuel filter located under the fuel tank doesn’t need to be changed too often, but if your side-by-side is an older model, you might want to get it checked out to ensure it’s fine. Change the oil filter every time you change the oil and replace the air filter once for every three or four oil changes.

Brakes

If you want your UTV to respond efficiently, you have to take care of the brakes. Don’t wait for the brakes to start acting up before giving them your attention. Check the brake pad thickness, the routing of your lines, and the condition and levels of your braking fluid. Remember, some issues you run into with your brakes can be easily fixed at home, but with such a delicate system, you might want to contact our service department for more serious repairs.
